My new start in 2012

Well, 2011 hasn't been my year to say the least! From battling with a drinking problem, weight problem and setting off with my family traveling around Australia in a caravan, I'm going to make 2012 my happy year.

I've given up drinking, well, and being on a packed caravan park on New Year's Eve won't be easy! But our neighbours don't drink and we get on really well with them, so we'll play some board games and chat........and wake up refreshed while everyone else sleeps in with a hangover!!
This is why I know that 2012 will be my happy year, because it will start off as I mean to go on........healthy eating and happy!

The long weekend

We're off today for the long weekend in our caravan to make sure everything works before we head off on our bug adventures!!
I've been eating for the sake of it lately, so I'm trying to get to the bottom of why I do it! I think that one of my problems is that if I'm counting ww points or counting calories, if I have something that I didn't intentionally want I think Öh stuff it, I'll start again tomorrow"so my "diet plan"all goes to pot. So, I'm trying a different approach. I know what's healthy and what's not, so I'm not going to point or count. I'm going to watch what carbs I'm eating and will try not eat bread and potatoes for dinner and I will see how I go.
I'm also going to start the Couch to 5K program, that really helped last time.

My final new start!!!!!!!!!

I've re-joined WeightWatchers and am going to incorporate some advice into it that the Nutrionist told me.



  • Stop eating when you are 80% full. Don't carry on eating everything on the plate until you are totally stuffed. I'm going to do this and adjust the points accordingly.

  • Eat breakfast like a King, lunch like a Prince and dinner like a Pauper. So, I'm going to have carbs with my breakfast and no carbs for dinner.

  • Make sure you have protein in every meal and for snacks.

  • Eat every 2-3 hours (small portions)

  • You could opt for soups, smoothies, shakes for dinner.

  • Drink lots of hebal teas throughout the day. Drinking warmer/hot water actually boosts your metabolism.

  • Drink sparkling mineral water of an evening, to keep your tummy feeling full.

  • Take magnesium powder dissolved in water at evening time, also take a good women's multi-vitamin.

I'm going to reduce the amounts of carbs I have, because I've been reading so much as to how carbs actually make you fat.

Another big change

I haven't been on here for absolutely ages (hanging my head in shame!!) But!!!!! We've just moved out of our house and are staying in our friends house while they are on holiday. We've bought a Jayco Expanda Outback caravan and are heading off around the country for 12 months. So with all the stress of that, that's my excuse as to why I haven't been concentrating 100% on my weight loss.

But, not with the thought of wearing singlets and bikini tops, I need to do something!!!! I went to see the nutrionist at Life Express last week and she has given me a really good eating plan and lots of tips, which I shall post soon to share(when I've got chance)

Well, after a good few weeks trying on CalorieKing, I've re-subscribed back to WW. I'm fitting in lots of exercise classes and still not drinking, so I'm hoping for a good result on the scales!

Back with my mojo :)

I've been missing for a while, but I'm back!! And I've lost 2kg this week. I've been exercising and getting back in to the gym classes and am feeling really good. I'm now following Calorie King instead of WW and am finding it great. Their website is free and has a huge database.

So, nothing's been happening, well, somehow I've still managed to lose 500g this week! I start my plan one day and by the lunch time it's over, and I'm over being over it! Only I can control this and get back on track.

I've got 12 weeks until I challenged myself to get to 65kg.

Weigh In

Well, since I started this little plan, which has been up and down! I've managed to lose 1.2kg.



My friend Alicia and I are challenging ourselves to get to goal. She's a very dear friend from the WW forum site. We have similar goals and it seems similar interests ;-)



Anyway, it's now or never.............those scales are going to seriously move downwards like mad!!!!

Wy week on Tony Ferguson

Well, um, the shakes and soups are really tasty, but I just can't do another week on it. I've lost 3kg and feel like I've had the kickstart I needed. So I'm back on Weightwatchers and WILL count and track the points of anything I eat.

My new plan

I just can't get my head in to the Weightwatchers plan at the moment. So, I've been doing lots of research and am going to give the Tony Ferguson plan a go, even if I just use it as a kick start. It's not just shakes and soups, there are piles of yummy recipes you can make up with them, so that's what I've started. Watch this space!!!!

I just can't seem to stick to any diet at all. I'm not drinking any booze, so that's a plus, but that's about it! I'm not exercising, because I can't be bothered and I'm straying off whatever diet I decide to do for that day!!!

HHmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.........

Well, it's not working well doing it on my own, so I'm back to tracking ProPoints on Weightwatchers. I've had sciatica in my back for the last month and it's constantly niggling, so I don't feel that I can use the gym at the moment. So my plan is to track whatever goes in my mouth!

My New Goal!

Well, after a little more weight gain, enough is enough! I'm just playing at it. I seem to diet when it suits me an when I can be bothered. I haven't been to the gym in goodness knows how long! And, I can remember the feeling I had when I'd been....I felt fantastic, so I've decided to set a new realistic (I think and hope!) goal.

I want to get to 65kg (which was what I was on Christmas Eve) for our Wedding Annivesary on 9th September. So that's just over 18 weeks away. If I can lose more, then that's fab, but I'm going to set that as my goal.

I'm also a bit "over" counting points, so I've going to see how this goes: no drinking alcohol, exercising (step and pump classes, gym work and also additional walking at home) and following the WeightWatchers plan, but just not pointing it. I think sometimes that this is why I go off on a tangent, because I don't have the time to sit and log everything online.

So watch this space :)

Back from hols and another new start...

We're just back from an 8 day camping trip up on Coffs Coast. We stayed at a fab campsite and had a really lovely relaxing time. Unfortunately, with that came eating too many of the wrong foods, so I've gained almost 3kg :( But back on track today and will be going back to the gym too. We're not back at work until after Anzac day, which is over another week away, so we're looking forward to some lovely family time.

My Dad

Today would have been my Dad's 72nd birthday. We've always bought flowers on our Dad's birthdays or anniversaries of them passing, but Nige had the lovely idea of us buying a flowering shrub to plant at a couple in lovely places in memory of our Dads, so that's what we're going to do.

There's not one day that goes past when I don't think of my Dad. He was such a wonderful man. I so wish that he had seen Jacob and Jessie.

WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've lost 2kg this week :)

I've really enjoyed my week too. I haven't exercised as much as I wanted, but I'm so pleased with my loss.

It's my birthday tomorrow and I'm hoping to be spoilt a bit ;) We're going out for the day, only to the beach and then back home for a fish and prawn barbie. I'm not drinking at all, so I'm treating myself to a banana and caramel pud yummo!!!!!!

A good start!!

I'm pleased to say that I've lost 1kg this week and it's that dreaded time of the month too, so a bit of a shocker!!


I've had such a good week though, compared to previous weeks. I'm feeling lots better than I did, I've been sticking to my WW plan but I haven't exercised because I burnt my leg quite badly last week and it's still quite sore when I walk.






Jacob's started school this week which was a big thing for us, just like all families.

Another new start..............

I'm not sure if I'm doing the right thing posting this, but it's kind of a "blame and shame" thing.

I'm disgusted to say that I now weigh 73.3kg!!! Christmas Eve I weighed in at 66.8kg

I've been putting Nige through a terrible time lately and it's all because I've been drinking. It's got to stop, otherwise I will lose everything and everyone.

I've been slowly going back in to a deeper depression. The Doctor has increased the dose of my happy pills, so I'm looking forward to that kicking in!!

So, yet again, another new start for me!!

I'm going to track track track my points, exercise and stay off the booze. This will hopefully get the old Rachel back.

Yet another new start :(

and this time I'm sticking to it! I've had a bit of a bumpy start to the new year and at my weigh in this morning I'd gained quite a bit from my last proper weigh in on Chrissie Eve.

I AM GOING TO GET TO MY GOAL by tracking, tracking and tracking, exercising (which will not only do my body good, but will make me feel great and get out of this low space that I've been in) and not drink.

Back on track after Christmas........




which carried on until the 3rd January!!!!!

I jumped on the scales on Friday and had gained 1.7kg :( but I think that has increased even more!! Will check in again on Friday.

We had a lovely Christmas and great New Year celebrations with our neighbours.
